Originally designed for esteemed guests of high society, the Palm Court continues to be the quintessential British venue for the study of afternoon tea etiquette, offering a truly luxurious experience.

The historical origins of the afternoon tea tradition, from the marriage of King Charles II to Catherine of Braganza to Anna Maria Russell, the 7th Duchess of Bedford, will be covered during our Afternoon Tea Etiquette Course. The lesson offers fascinating insights into the rich social history associated with this revered meal, and it's a journey that will leave you feeling enlightened and very much part of our great British heritage.

Furthermore, this tradition provides a framework for understanding and appreciating each component of this luxurious indulgence. The menu boasts an array of 20 loose-leaf teas, delicately crafted finger sandwiches featuring traditional fillings, an assortment of tea cakes and pastries, and freshly baked scones accompanied by strawberry preserves and decadent Devonshire clotted cream.

In addition to its classic afternoon tea offerings, The Ritz London features a distinctive tableside service that allows guests to enjoy two generous slices of cake from their guéridon cake trolley, in the unlikely event that one is still a little hungry!

Our Afternoon Tea Etiquette Course is held at The Ritz Hotel, 150 Piccadilly, London, W1J 9BR.

There is excellent access to transport links; it is conveniently located within a two-minute walk from Green Park underground station, which offers the Jubilee, Piccadilly, and Victoria Lines.

 

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT TO ACHIEVE?

The two-hour Afternoon Tea Etiquette Course provides a comprehensive understanding of the historical and cultural significance of afternoon tea and the associated customs and etiquette. Participants will gain insight into the proper etiquette for enjoying each component of the meal. In addition, the course offers the opportunity to engage with Emma on various British etiquette topics.

Given her extensive experience dealing with cross-cultural diversities, Emma can help you navigate any potentially challenging and delicate issues stemming from cultural misunderstandings.

COURSE SCHEDULE

Emma will greet you at the reception of The Ritz Hotel, London, at 2.50 PM, with the course commencing at 3 PM. You will enjoy a traditional afternoon tea, including 20 teas on offer, soft drinks, and a glass of champagne if desired.

The course ends circa. 5.00 PM.
